CAREER IN AEROSPACE ENGINEERING

INTRODUCTION

Aerospace engineering is the branch of engineering which deals with the research, Design, development, construction, testing, of aircraft and spacecraft. It is divided into Two  major and overlapping  branches: aeronautical engineering related to Aircrafts in the earth's atmosphere, and astronautical engineering that deals with Spacecrafts that operate outside the earth's atmosphere.

ELIGIBILITY

Undergraduate Level 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or

Equivalent examination. The IITs considers scores of JEE

And other institutions have their own separate

Entrance exams.

Post Graduate Level Undergraduate degree in Aeronautical/ Aerospace or

Related Engineering, or passed both Sections.

Doctoral Level Must have completed Post-graduation in Aeronautical/ Aerospace Engineering. Must have a valid GATE score

SKILLS REQUIRED FOR AEROSPACE ENGINEERS

The work environment is multidisciplinary, so a clear understanding of how aerospace engineering is related to other engineering disciplines is essential. Given the frequency of international partnerships, language skills are useful and the ability to work as part of a team is crucial. Aeronautical engineers must also have:

  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Technical expertise

  • Creativity and innovative thinking

  • Attention to detail

  • A strong awareness of safety issues

  • Communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Project and time management skills

  • A commitment to keeping up to date with technical developments

  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.


DUTIES FOR AEROSPACE ENGINEERS

  • Developing new technologies for use in spacecraft, aviation and defense systems

  • Designing, assembling and testing of aircraft and aerospace products

  • Examine damage or malfunction in an equipment to find our possible reason and offer solution

  • Assessing cost and feasibility of new projects proposed to be undertaken

  • Determining quality standard acceptance criteria for design methods, quality standards, sustainment after delivery, and completion dates

  • Evaluating that the project or the product meets engineering principles, safety norms, customer requirements and environmental challenges

  • Manufacturing aircraft and individual components in coordination with the design team.

  • Aerospace Engineers take on specialized areas of functioning such as software engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, for automation and guidance purposes, aerodynamics or propulsion systems
